Races from 3km to marathon have been held since 1978 in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Geelong, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Wollongong.
RUNNING & FITNESS FESTIVALS
Comprised of multiple events such as 5km run & walk, half-marathon and marathon the Running & Fitness Festivals have been held in Sydney & Melbourne.
Marathons have been held in Brisbane, Melbourne & Sydney.
Annual 24-hour track race in Adelaide (1981 to present)
Occasional 24-hour & 100km events in Sydney & Canberra.
First ever triathlon staged in Australia, held on April 5, 1980 at Tallebudgera, Queensland (1 mile swim, 27 mile cycle, 10 mile run).
Triathlons and Biathlons have been held Adelaide (SA), Canberra (ACT), Queenscliff (Vic), Tallebudgera (Qld), Sydney & Wollongong (NSW).

Worldwide relay runs in '87, '89, '91, '93, '95, '97 and '99.

Two national running magazines inaugurated in 1985.
10km Sri Chinmoy Running Trail around Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra, established in 1984.
Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team members on the organising committee for the Commonwealth Games Marathon and 30km road walk, Brisbane 1984.
Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team members were on the Sunstate Fun Run Advisory Committee, Queensland.
Running and meditation symposia around Australia.
RECOGNITION FROM THE RUNNING COMMUNITY
Australian Runner magazine presented a special award to Sri Chinmoy for his contribution to the growth of running in Australia and the conduct of races, September 11, 1984.
Sri Chinmoy opened the VII World Veterans' Games in Melbourne with a meditation. His song was accepted as the official anthem of the Games and was performed at the opening ceremony on November 29, 1987.
